ALDA Chicago is heading to historic St. Charles, IL, a city along Illinois Route 64 about 40 miles west of Chicago.  We plan to have a picnic-style lunch followed by a paddleboat cruise on the Fox River.

The day starts with a Board of Directors meeting in the Bisbee Conference Room at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 South 6th Ave., from 11 AM to 1 PM.  Up to 15 additional non-Board members are welcome to attend the meeting—the room has a maximum capacity of 25 persons.

The real fun begins with lunch from Smitty’s on the Corner, 15 E. Main St., starting at 1-1:15 PM.  Smitty’s is a neighborhood carryout and box lunch café offering a wide range of gourmet deli sandwiches, soups and ice cream.  To view the Smitty’s menu and pricing, go to:  www.eatatsmittys.com/menu.  If weather permits, we will get our lunches then walk a few blocks to picnic at Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave., very near to the boarding point for the cruise.

Boarding for the riverboat cruise begins at 2:45 PM (15 minutes prior to launch) from the dock at 2 North Ave. (on the east side of the Fox River in Pottawatomie Park).  Cost is $8.50 per person.  Scripts will be available and these follow closely to what is actually being said by the captain.  The cruise is expected to last 50 minutes.  For more info, go to www.stcriverboats.com/.

There is no cost to register for this outing.  Everyone pays for their own meals, beverages and cruise tickets at time of purchase.  Cash and all major credit cards are acceptable payment methods at both Smitty’s and St. Charles Paddlewheel Riverboats.

Please RSVP no later than Thursday, June 7th so that we can inform the cruise line and ensure enough scripts are available for the riverboat cruise.
